Not our wedding anniversary…our anniversary of moving onto the boat! What an exciting day it was! I had no qualms at that time about doing what some people would call crazy or scary and I’ve been happy every single second since. Even when I am seasick! I hope we have many more years together on Unforgettable. I couldn’t imagine a better life! It all started when we met Don and Sue on a Kadey Krogen in late March of 2017. They gave us a tour of their boat and told us how they sold their house and travel aboard their boat full time. We went back to our boat and both of us said…we can do that!

After leaving the Cape Cod area we spent 2 nights at Stonington, CT. Unfortunately, the town is absolutely shut down on Mondays so our only activity was visiting the Lighthouse Museum. We had planned to stay 2 nights in the mooring field but after a close call necessitating our docking poles and learning the fee to moor was $175 a night, we skedaddled out to the anchorage.
Sea La Vie was our buddy boat in Port Washington NY, Sandy Hook NJ, Atlantic City and Cape May NJ. We love buddy boating and socializing in the evenings. After separating we created our own anchorage on the perimeter of the Chesapeake Bay north of the Sassafras River for one night then we bought 532 gallons of fuel at $4.52 at Herrington Harbor South. Finally, we pulled into what feels like home…Solomons, MD.

At Washburn’s Boatyard they give us superior attention and take such good care of us. They made our repairs, lent us their truck to transport our anchor chain to be galvanized in Baltimore, and finished in time for us to attend the Kadey Krogen rendezvous! Despite repeated attempts in several towns we could not get a diver in Cape Cod so we needed a short haul to power wash off the nasty slime and barnacles. Thank you Eric, Linda and the whole staff! I don’t know what we’d do without you!

I am supremely thankful for every minute I get to spend with my kids and we had some fun times with Allegra and Brandon. One day we hosted them and 3 of their friends and boy do I enjoy these young adults and their energy. I can’t wait to hang out with them again!

We had a blast at the rendezvous! Scott and Fred were in charge of coffee and the morning snacks. I co-chaired the women’s round table and helped with the food. It was so much fun choosing a theme for the dinner/dance/costume party…Under the Big Top Krogen Circus! There were many great costumes and prizes and we danced all evening. Most of all, I’m overwhelmed by the generosity of donations we collected for the Heart F.E.L.T. backpack program. We donated over 405 lbs. of food, collected 2 Walmart gift cards and $320. This was much needed as they had several empty shelves. Many thanks to everyone, especially the co-chair, Beth K. and our helper, Kitty C. Also, a heartfelt thanks to Dianne ( a local friend and sailboater) who devotes so much time and energy running the program here in Solomons. Kadey Krogen owners truly do care!
I love all the socializing at the rendezvous but now I must face fall and cold temperatures as we begin our southward trek. We look forward to seeing friends and family and exploring some new sites along the way.

We brightened up with some new light fixtures, a smiling humpback, and new bedding for our stateroom. Happy Anniversary to us and Unforgettable!

Congratulations Scott and Melissa on 5 years of living your dream life aboard Unforgettable! Our trip with you all 4 years ago next to Lady Liberty in NY was definitely that…unforgettable, and we’ll always be grateful for that experience with you both. I so enjoy reading about your travels, lobster rolls, and challenges along the way. Cheers to you both to keep the dream going!
